Once aboard, you’ll familiarize yourself with the vessel’s layout, equipment, and safety systems. Our expert instructors will provide a comprehensive briefing on the course structure, sailing terminology, and essential sailing techniques.

Each day offers hands-on practice, including steering, sail raising, anchoring, docking, sail trimming, tacking, and gybing. Your sailing itinerary includes captivating destinations like Medulin, Rovinj, and the breathtaking Brijuni National Park, with comfortable overnight accommodations.

By journey’s end, you’ll have developed solid foundational sailing skills, explored stunning coastlines, and created lasting memories.

Pula

Meeting Point

OVERVIEW

On Friday morning, you will meet Sail Istria’s skipper in front of a Konzum supermarket in Pula. This location lets you purchase all necessary provisions – food, drinks, and supplies you’ll need while at sea.

After shopping, our professional instructors will escort your group to the marina where your vessel awaits. Boarding the sailboat marks your first step into sailing.

Our team will conduct a thorough orientation, introducing you to the vessel’s layout, equipment, and safety systems. You’ll receive a clear briefing on course structure, learning objectives, and essential sailing terminology.

This initial session builds the foundation for your sailing education. By departure time, you’ll be prepared with both knowledge and provisions for the practical training ahead as you set course for your first destination.

Medulin

Day 1

OVERVIEW

Your Day 1 of the Beginner Sailing Course begins from Pula with a practical sailing experience to Medulin. From the moment you set sail, you’ll actively practice steering and raising sails under our experienced instructors’ guidance. This initial training builds your confidence and handling skills for an exciting day ahead.

Navigating through Istria’s clear waters, your course passes the stunning Kamenjak. In one of its quiet bays, you’ll practice essential anchoring techniques, reinforcing your steering abilities while enjoying the coastline’s natural beauty.

In Medulin, you’ll stop for an optional lunch and drinks. This break gives you time to relax before beginning your return journey to Pula, where you’ll continue refining the sailing techniques learned earlier.

Back in Pula, you’ll be escorted to a comfortable city apartment where you can unwind and explore the local culture. This combination of practical training and authentic local experience perfectly concludes your first day of the Beginner Sailing Course.

Rovinj

Day 2

OVERVIEW

Your Day 2 journey begins as you leave your Pula apartment early and head to the marina. You’ll start by practicing docking and mooring techniques under our expert instructors’ guidance, building your confidence with these essential skills.

After this focused marina session, you’ll sail toward Rovinj. On open waters, you’ll practice trimming sails as winds change, along with tacking and gybing maneuvers. These skills are crucial for efficient sailboat control, and our instructors will provide hands-on guidance to improve your technique.

In Rovinj, you’ll have another chance to practice docking, reinforcing your earlier training. This additional practice ensures you feel confident handling your vessel in different harbor conditions.

When your practical sessions end, you’ll be taken to a comfortable Rovinj apartment. Here, you can relax and explore this beautiful coastal town, reflecting on your accomplishments while enjoying the local scenery and atmosphere. 

Brijuni Islands

Day 3

Your Day 3 begins as you check out of your Rovinj apartment and sail to Brijuni National Park. Today, you’ll consolidate everything learned, making this journey both a review and final test of your new sailing skills.

On open waters, you’ll apply all techniques—steering, sail trimming, tacking, and gybing—developed during your course. Our instructors remain available to guide you as you refine your maneuvers, building confidence on the water.

At Brijuni, the focus shifts from training to exploration. You’ll have time to enjoy the natural beauty and history of this remarkable National Park. Wander trails, enjoy views, or relax by the water—the park offers many experiences to complement your sailing adventure.

After a day of discovery, you’ll prepare for the return to Pula. This final leg lets you reflect on your progress and the landscapes seen, completing a three-day course that has given you practical skills and lasting memories.

Farewell in Pula

Do I need prior sailing experience?

No prior sailing experience is needed. Just bring your enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and comfort being on a boat.

Our professional instructors will guide you every step of the way and closely monitor your progress.

You can cancel your booking up to 7 days before the departure, and you will receive a 100% refund.

You will not be refunded if you book 7 days or fewer before the departure.

Safety is our priority. In case of bad weather, we may adjust the itinerary, reschedule the tour, or offer a full refund.

We will keep you informed and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

On the first night, you will sleep in one of Pula’s apartments. On the second night, you’ll stay in an apartment in Rovinj, giving you a chance to explore the town in the evening.

You’ll have the opportunity to purchase your own food and drinks before setting sail. There will also be opportunities to enjoy meals at local spots in Medulin and Rovinj.

Group sizes vary, but we aim to keep the experience personal and engaging. You can book privately with your group or join a shared tour with like-minded sailors. 

The maximum number of participants is 5.

The Beginner Sailing Course is suitable for active individuals aged 15 and up. Participants should be comfortable with moderate physical activities and spending time on a boat.

Participants should bring water-resistant clothing and warm layers, along with suitable non-slip footwear, as sailing conditions can be wet and windy.
